Grading Policy
Class-Work/Science in the News/Science Notebook: 30%
Assessments: 30%
Projects/Labs/Research Papers: 30%
Participation: 10%
Students will participate in hands-on activities, projects and labs throughout the year. It is extremely important for them to keep a detailed science notebook for them to refer back to as we progress through the year. Assessments include, unannounced ticket-ins, quick-checks and tests that will be announced at least a week ahead of time. As we start to incorporate project-based learning, students will have projects that will allow them to research a topic or issue and create solutions. For projects, students will be graded on several different components that will be unique to the assignment. Students will be given project rubrics at the beginning of the assignment, where they will be able to see what is expected of them. After the completion of a lab, students will write a reflection and/or a lab report that will be graded based on the lab rubric.
